Frank Flater, aged 80, prominently known in this community, died at 12:30 p. m., Saturday at his home from an attack of heart disease. Mr. Flater was born Dec. 27, 1850, in Carroll county, Maryland, and in company with his brother, John, came to Iowa in 1875, and settled in this community. Frank Flater, aged 80, prominently known in this community, died at 12:30 p. m., Saturday at his home from an attack of heart disease. Mr. Flater was born Dec. 27, 1850, in Carroll county, Maryland, and in company with his brother, John, came to Iowa in 1875, and settled in this community. Dec. 25, 1878, he was married to Mary Hildebrand of this place. In 1885 they moved to Kansas, returning eight years later and settled in Cedar Valley, where they lived on their farm until in 1913, when they retired and moved into West Liberty. He has been a member of the Methodist church since early in life and was one of the oldest Masons in this community. Mr. Flater had served as township trustee for several terms. Surviving are his Widow, who has been in ailing health for the last year, and three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Brand, Mrs. W. T. Grigg and Mrs. Ed. Hendricks all of this community, besides six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p. m. from the Methodist church, with the Rev. W. A. Smith, pastor officiating. The Masonic lodge will conduct the services at the grave.
