Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Army. Francis Jim Harrison Bowman was born September 15, 1933 to Harrison and Pearl (Hanshaw) Bowman. He graduated from Central High School in 1951. After graduation he enlisted into the United States Army. He was stationed for 2 years in Seattle, Washington during the Korean War. Upon his return to Sioux City from his enlistment, he was employed at Swifts and Co. Packing Plant for 33 years, upon the closing of the plant Francis then began working at Old Home Bakery for another 10 years until his retirement. On February 15, 1958, Francis married LuAnn M. Edison; they celebrated 50 years together. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. Francis was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and for many years was their basketball coach. He was a devoted Hawkeye Basketball and Football fan. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, and had a love for cats. Francis is survived by his wife of 50 years LuAnn of Sioux City, five sons and a daughter, Steve of Omaha, NE; Ray and his wife Kay of Sioux Falls, SD; John and his wife Shelley of Burnsville, MN; Lee and his wife Marcia of Sioux City; Jacqueline and her husband Pete of Sioux City; Gene and his wife Molly of Sioux City, seven grandchildren: Wesley, Ryan, Chris, Brittany, Coressa, Tina, and Amber. His mother Pearl Bowman of Sioux City, a brother, Roger and his wife Vicki of Sioux City, and sister, Florence Tapley of Sioux City, and a lifelong friend, Fred Davis. He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison and brother, Chuck. Serving as pall bearers will be Steve Bowman, Ray Bowman, John Bowman, Lee Bowman, Roger Bowman, Wesley Bowman, and Presentation of Military honors, Gene Bowman.
