Description	:	Francis J. Collette, the son of Joseph and Irene Courville Collette, was born November 26, 1922, at Clyde, Kansas. He served in the United States Army from March of 1943 to March of 1946. On March 14, 1947, Francis was united in marriage to Barbara Bown at Sioux City, IA. Francis was a self employed barber in Oskaloosa for over 50 years. Read More	Francis J. Collette, the son of Joseph and Irene Courville Collette, was born November 26, 1922, at Clyde, Kansas. He served in the United States Army from March of 1943 to March of 1946. On March 14, 1947, Francis was united in marriage to Barbara Bown at Sioux City, IA. Francis was a self employed barber in Oskaloosa for over 50 years. He also had worked for Municipal Supply Company of Des Moines for a few years, and then later for nine years with Rolscreen Company of Pella, retiring in 1986. In his retirement, Francis and Barbara wintered in Arizona the past 16 years. He was a 50 plus year member of the American Legion; and had been a member of the Elks and Y's Men, and the Iowa Journeyman Barbers Association and served as secretary of that organization for over 25 years. He enjoyed woodworking, and working around the house. On Saturday, October 12, 2002, Francis died at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 16 days. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Collette of Oskaloosa; 2 sons and their wives: Steven and Sharon Collette of Charleston, South Carolina and Scott and Vicky Collette of Oskaloosa; 3 granddaughters: Sarah (& Bink) Collette, Jamie (& Erik) Anderson, and Jodi Collette. Also surviving are 3 brothers: Wilbur Collette and Clifford (& Joan) Collette, all of North Sioux City, South Dakota, and Leon "Curly" (& Wanda) Collette of Sioux City, Iowa; and a sister and her husband: Geneva and Louis Strand of Sulfur Springs, Texas.
