He is survived by his wife, Linda Ray Askew Childress; Daughters, Shannon McFearin(Michael) and Heather Alentado(Matt); Brothers, Franklin Morgan (Sandra) of Mechanicsville, Hanover County and Ellis Martin (Sandra) of Ashland; Sister, Mary Ellen Schooler (Gerald) of Spotsylvania; His four grandchildren, Alexandra and Victoria McFearin, and Maximus and Lucius Alentado; as well as many nephews and nieces. Mack married Linda R. Askew on May 20th, 1967. Linda is the youngest daughter of the late Raymond Boyd Askew and the late Carrie Mildred Hall Askew. They are also survived by and older daughter, Lois Etta Walton of Mechanicsville, Va. Mack graduated from Patrick Henry High School on June 7th, 1963. He attended Richmond Professional Institute, now Virginia Commonwealth University, and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. He received a diploma from La Salle Extension University in Architectural Drafting on September 7th, 1967. After studying for 4 years he was awarded a certificate from the Art Instruction Schools in Advertising and Illustration Art on August 28th, 1973. He received a diploma from the Distributive Education Management Service and Manager Development Center of Henrico Schools on June 27th, 1983. After completing a year-long course he received a diploma from Dale Carnegie on January 7th, 1989. After studying seminars in bird biology for 2 years through Cornell University Dept. of Ornithology he was awarded a certificate on January 25, 1994. He also received a diploma from Liberty University on May 10th, 2006 in Bible studies. He spent most of his working years in the engineering field. The first 10 years of his career he was an engineering draftsman for the Henrico County Utilities Department which included full time work in Electrical and Sanitary Engineering, as well as part time work in Civil Engineering. Later he joined The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia. After 27 years of service, Mack retired from the Bell Atlantic Telephone company in 1999. He was then employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation as a highway inspector Grade I. He retired from VDOT in 2009 as a Grade II inspector. Mack and Linda were both members of the Zion Christian Church in Beaverdam. There he served at various times in different roles such as Secretary of the Board, Church Deacon, Board Chairman and for years as a Trustee. Mack was totally devoted to his wife, Linda, whom he loved deeply for over 50 years and to his daughters, Shannon and Heather, whom he could not have asked for better and adored more dearly. His 4 grandchildren were his blessing in life and came to him as granddaughters, Alexandra and Victoria McFearin. His grandsons also came as a blessing from heaven, as Maximus and Lucius Alentado. A Visitation will be held on February 28th 2022 at Zion Christian Church from 4PM to 7PM located at 16158 Beaverdam School Rd, Beaverdam, VA 23015. A Funeral Service will be held on March 1st at Zion Christian Church at 11AM located at 16158 Beaverdam School Rd. Beaverdam, VA 23015 with Interment to follow at The Calvary Christian Church Cemetery located at 14196 Ashland Rd, Glen Allen Virginia, 23059.
