Francis Marion Vanschoyck, son of John and Elizabeth Vanschoyck was born in Warren county (Ohio), July 24, 1839, and died at his home near Waynesfield, Ohio, April 10, 1913. Francis Marion Vanschoyck, son of John and Elizabeth Vanschoyck was born in Warren county (Ohio), July 24, 1839, and died at his home near Waynesfield, Ohio, April 10, 1913. After an illness of a complication of diseases, of a day and a half of intense suffering, his spirit went home to God, after the brief pilgrimage of 73 years, 8 months and 16 days. He was a member of a family of eight children, of whom only one survives, Mrs. E. Mouser, of Peabody, Kansas. He with his parents moved from Warren county to Allen county, Perry township, when he was a lad of 16 summers, where he grew to manhood. July 20, 1861, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Logan. To this union were born thirteen children, nine boys and four girls. Two boys went on before to await the coming of their father, one aged ten and the other aged twenty. He and his wife moved to Auglaize county in 1881 to the home occupied by the deceased at the time of his departure. He was converted at Waynesfield in 1882 under the pastorate of Rev. Werner and united with the Methodist Protestant Church at Waynesfield at the same time and continued his relationship until recently, when he transferred his membership with his family to the M.P. Church at Westminster, Ohio. Bro. Vanschoyck was at home with the people of God, regardless of denominational lines and he could say the children of God, ye are my brethern. He enlisted in Co. E, O.N.G. 33 regiment, August 8, 1863, Mustered into service in 1864 Co.B. 151 O.V.I. and was honorably discharged from service at expiration of time of enlistment. His sickness of short duration did not find him off duty but was on guard and ready for the hour, the hour for which considerate preparation had been made, and when he was informed the end was near, the faithful companion and children were called to the bed-side and he said farewell to his loved ones, as he took them by the hand, one by one and asked them to meet him in heaven for that is where I am going. The last words he was heard to say, were "Praise the Lord, He's right here." There remain to mourn his departure, seven sons, Elmer, John, Charlie, Bert, Clifton, Frankie and Clyde, four daughters, Christena, wife of David Balcome, Ida, wife of John T. Myers, Pearl, wife of John Newland, and Caroline, wife of Jess Newland, 26 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, on sister, Mrs. E. A. Mouser of Peabody, Kansas, and a host of relatives and Friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2 o'clock at the M.P. Church at Waynesfield, conducted by Rev. Creamer, assisted by Rev. A. E. Hayes and Rev.Games. Intermentin Horn Cemetery. Obituary in possession of William Q. Kirkwood.
