He was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Franklin County to George and Marie (Stecker) Eckhoff. On July 9, 1943, he married Jessie Berlie. She died in 1996. On Oct. 9, 1999, he married Viola Johnson. Survivors include his wife; sons, Randy and Steve, both of Minden; daughter, Elaine Robinson of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and stepdaughters, Patty Hoffman of Ankeny, Iowa, and Carol Bontz of Minden. Additional survivors include his daughters-in-law, Holly Eckoff and Joyce Eckoff, both of Minden; son-in-law, Stephen Robinson of Lincoln; and stepsons-in-law, Tom Hoffman of Ankeny and Roger Bontz of Minden. He grew up in the Franklin County area and graduated from Franklin High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He and his wife lived in the Franklin area. He worked at the Lincoln Hotel until he moved to Minden in 1958. While in Minden, he worked at Auto Way Bowl and for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from the Postal Service in 1985. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden. He maintained the yard at the church for many years. He was a member of Minden American Legion Post 94 and volunteered at the Minden Senior Citizen Center recycling aluminum cans for many years.
