Description	:	Frank Augustus Huber, Sr. 1836-1906 Frank Augustus Huber was born on December 20, 1836 in Baden-Werttemberg, Germany to Bernhard Huber and Anna (Streetmater) Huber. He lived in Germany until he was twenty years old then came to America. He arrived in Syracuse, New York and was employed in salt works and tanneries. He then moved onto Columbus, Ohio and New Orleans where he moved on the levees, until 1859. He traveled to Wyandott, Kansas and returned to New Orleans where he worked on the Red River steamboating. Read More	Frank Augustus Huber, Sr. 1836-1906 Frank Augustus Huber was born on December 20, 1836 in Baden-Werttemberg, Germany to Bernhard Huber and Anna (Streetmater) Huber. He lived in Germany until he was twenty years old then came to America. He arrived in Syracuse, New York and was employed in salt works and tanneries. He then moved onto Columbus, Ohio and New Orleans where he moved on the levees, until 1859. He traveled to Wyandott, Kansas and returned to New Orleans where he worked on the Red River steamboating. During the Civil War, he was drafter by the Confederates into the First Louisiana Tigers. His anti-slavery views resulted in him deserting the southern Army and re-enlisting at Cairo, Illinois, into the Union Army, Company H, 9th Illinois Mounted Infantry. He was captured as a prisoner of war and released in 1865 at Goldsborough, North Carolina after four years of service. After his discharge, Frank located to Montgomery county, Illinois and operated a bakery and boarding house. On May 28, 1866 Frank married Augusta Carolina (Boehl) Liedke in Hillsborough, Illinois. She was the widow of civil war casualty Henry Liedke and the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Behle (Bell). They became the parents to nine children; Elizabeth Johanna "Lizzie" (Huber) Scheife, Fredrick Jacob Huber, Catherine Mary "Katie" (Huber) Floch, Louis Leopold Huber, Teresa Sophia Huber, Clara Henrietta (Huber) Dixon, Frank Augustus Huber, Jr., Irene Bell Huber and Lawrence Henry Huber. In 1879, he headed west, settling in Asotin county, Washington. The Huber family homestead was located four miles west from the town of Anatone and consisted of 960 acres of premium farm land. Frank served as County Commissioner and Chairman of the Baord. He was a registered Democrat. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and G.A.R. He was a trustee on the Anatone school board. Frank passed away on March 24, 1906 in Anatone, Asotin county, Washington and was laid to rest in the Anatone Cemetery.
