Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Baptist Church. Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, February 12, 1948 SERVICES HELD FOR HOLYOKE RESIDENT Last rites were held Friday, February 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist church of Holyoke for Frank Brandt, age 85 years, who passed away at his home in Holyoke Tuesday February 3, 1948. Rev. Oliver W. Brock officiated the ceremony. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Clifford Sharpe, Henry Brandt, Dewayne and Orville Brandt, James Scholl and Kenneth Brandt Goodman. Special music was furnished by the quartet from the choir of the Baptist church. Frank Brandt was born November 28, 1863 in Berlin, Germany. He was united in marriage to Mary Radtke January 25, 1887. They emigrated to the United States in April 1888 and settled near Scribner, Nebraska. In 1910 the family moved to Gregory, South Dakota and resided there until the spring of 1920 when they moved to a farm north of Holyoke. Mr. and Mrs. Brandt retired from farming in 1926 and moved to Holyoke residing thee until his death February 3, 1948. Just prior to Mr. Brandt's death, Mr. and Mrs. Brandt had celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary. To this union was born nine children: Carl of Longmont, Colorado; Otto of Loveland, Colorado; William of Harvard, Nebraska; Mrs. Sol Rittel of Kadoka, South Dakota; Mrs. Kenneth Goodman of Canyon, Texas; Herbert Brandt, Mrs.John Detmer, and Mrs. J.G. Scholl of Holyoke. One child died in infancy. There were thirty-one grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. In boyhood Mr. Brandt was confirmed a member of the Lutheran church. He was a Sunday school teacher of the German Baptist church in Gregory, South Dakota for several years. Upon moving to Holyoke, he was a faithful supporter of the Baptist church. He was a kind, loving father, a good neighbor, and always willing to help others. Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. A.K. Goodman, Kenneth and Shirley and Dewayne Brandt of Canyon, Texas, William Brandt of Harvard, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Brandt and Edna of Loveland, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Brandt, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Sharpe and son Gene of Greeley, Norma Jean and Maxine Brandt students of Greeley College, and Henry Brandt and son Billy of Sterling.
