Description	:	Frank C. Wilkens Sr., 94, of Waverly, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center, Shell Rock, Iowa, of natural causes. Frank was born on September 19, 1908, in Bremer County, Iowa, the son of George and Mary (Kirchhoff) Wilkens. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John U.C.C. Siegel, rural Waverly. Frank attended country school at Warren #8, rural Waverly. Read More	Frank C. Wilkens Sr., 94, of Waverly, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center, Shell Rock, Iowa, of natural causes. Frank was born on September 19, 1908, in Bremer County, Iowa, the son of George and Mary (Kirchhoff) Wilkens. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John U.C.C. Siegel, rural Waverly. Frank attended country school at Warren #8, rural Waverly. Following his schooling, Frank helped his parents on the farm, and on June 25, 1933, he was united in marriage to LaVera Biermann at St. John U.C.C. Siegel. The couple farmed in Fayette Twp. until 1955, when they retired from farming and moved into Waverly. Frank then worked part-time for the City of Waverly at Harlington Cemetery, Farmers Exchange and the Junior High School. LaVera died on November 13, 1980, and Frank continued to live in Waverly with his daughter, Mary Ann until August 19, 2003, when he became a resident of the Shell Rock Health Care Center. Frank was a member of Peace U.C.C. in Waverly, was on the church council while attending St. John U.C.C. Siegel, and was on the Board of Directors for the Bremer Creamery. Frank enjoyed to fish in Minnesota and play cards. He is survived by his 3 children; George Wilkens and his wife, Mary, of Waverly, Mary Ann Hunemiller of Waverly, and Steve Wilkens and his wife, Melissa of Waverly; 6 grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter; 11 great grandchildren; 2 step great granddaughters; one sister; Ella Kaiser of Waverly; and 3 sisters-in-law, Viola Biermann of West Union, Dornetta Biermann of Tripoli, and LaVonna Bolte of Tripoli. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaVera; a son-in-law, Richard Hunemiller; a grandson, Thomas Hunemiller; and two sisters, Laura Mueller and Gertie Wente. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2003, at 10: 30 A.M. at Peace United Church of Christ in Waverly, with Pastor Suzanne Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18th from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home in Waverly.
