Although Mr. Haxton had been an invalid the passed seven years his wide circle of friends had not forgotten their worth while friend. During his active years he was ever ready to lend a helping hand and sympathize with those in affliction or distress. He was of a cheerful, genial and kind disposition. The community has lost in the passing of Mr. Haxton a highly respected and esteemed friend and citizen. The friends sincerely sympathize with his loved ones. --- Obituary Frank Curtis Haxton was born Oct. 28, 1859, one mile east of Arlington. The oldest of six children of Daniel B. and Laura Rawson Haxton. He has lived his whole life in this community, educated in the public schools and later working with his father on the farm. For several yaers he was butter maker in the Cooperative Creamery. On Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1882 he was united in marriage to Katherine Alsop of Dubuque and moved to a farm he had purchased 3 1/2 miles s.w. of Arlington. To Mr. and Mrs. Haxton two daughters were born, Laura Isabel and Libbie Alice, who with his wife survive him. About 34 years ago he retired from the farm and moved to Arlington that his daughters might have the advantage of the schools and church. He was always active and busy interested in the events of the day, always ready to help, his cheery friendly smile has been much missed since failing health has kept him closely at home. For many years he was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Modern Woodmen of America, and was director of the creamery. He has been for many years a member of the M.E. church and to the last was strong in the faith frequently expressing his readiness to meet his God. Seven years ago he suffered an attack of flue, and never regained his health, for the past four years he has been practically helpless, suffering intensely at times. In February of the present year he became seriously ill and has been confined to his bed, since that time attended constantly by his devoted wife and daughters. The end came at 10:30 Wednesday night, Sept. 9. His age was 71 years, 11 months and nineteen days.
