Description	:	Frank Drayer, the son of Jim and Mildred (Gower) Drayer, was born October 7, 1923 at Paton, Iowa and departed this life March 22, 2016 at the Regency Park Care Center in Jefferson, Iowa. Read More	Frank Drayer, the son of Jim and Mildred (Gower) Drayer, was born October 7, 1923 at Paton, Iowa and departed this life March 22, 2016 at the Regency Park Care Center in Jefferson, Iowa. He lived a full life to the age of 92 years, 5 months and 15 days. Frank spent his childhood in Paton, attended and graduated from the Paton High School in 1941. On February 15, 1948, Frank Drayer was united in marriage to Shirley Hamann at the Gowrie Methodist Church. Three children were born to this union. After their marriage, Frank and Shirley farmed near Gowrie and in 1953, they moved to a farm near Churdan where they farmed and raised their family Frank also worked for the ASC (now known as Farm Service Agency) and did crop adjusting. Frank retired from farming in 1991 but continued to help when needed. Frank and Shirley moved to Jefferson in 1995 and in 2008 to the Greenwood Retirement Apartments. He enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them out of his picture window as he sat in his easy chair. He enjoyed playing cards at the congregate meals and helping to deliver meals. Due to failing health, Frank moved to Regency Park Care Center in March of 2014 where he received excellent care and kind help from the nurses for whom he was very thankful. He was voted one year as King of the "Jefferson Bell Towers Festival" from Regency Park and rode in the parade. Frank was a 63 year member of the Churdan United Methodist Church, a long time member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and Cribbage Club. Frank always loved anything about farming. He loved the smell of freshly mowed hay, restoring tractors, making things "run" and fixing many things in his garage. He enjoyed tractor rides, coffee with the "coffee boys" and Nick Foster's Threshing show. He loved to be together with his children and grandchildren for birthday parties and holidays. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley; a daughter, Becki Cunningham and husband, Dave, of Paton and their daughter, Julie (Kelly) McCombs and their children: Cole (fiancée Ali Mortoza), Josie and Carter; son Jim Drayer (Cheryl) of Dallas, Texas and their children: Jeff (Penelope), Jill (fiancée Joe Griffith) and Tracey (Robby) Robson; and son Dan Drayer (Sue) of Lincoln, Nebraska and their children; Alex, Cale, Brody and Derek (Jamie) and their children, Nolan and Hannah; and a sister, Doris Mundt of Gowrie. Those who preceded him in death were his parents; a grandson, Kevin Cunningham; and two sisters: Jessie Shriver and Eva Blair. It was Frank's wish to be cremated. A memorial service was held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Churdan with Rev. David Arulnathan officiating. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Burial was made in the Dawson Township Cemetery west of Paton.
