Bryant The citizens of Rochester were shocked this mornng by the news of the sudden death of one of the city's pioneer citizens, Frank E. BRYANT. He had a host of friends throughout Fulton and adjacent counties. For a number of years he was president of the old UNITED STATES BANK & TRUST Co., and more recently was engged in law and auditing business here in Rochester. He was most active in the civic and religious affairs of the community and despite his failing health he continued to carry on his work. Frank E., son of John and Hannah (BYBEE) BRYANT was born January 19, 1874 on a farm in Newcastle township. He came to Rochester with his parents in 1895. On April 2, 1905 he was united in marriage with Edith COWGILL, of this city. He was first employed in the law offices of HOLMAN and STEPHENSON and later became a member of this firm. He then became associated with the BEYER BROS. firm and was employed by them in mangerial position from 1900 to 1908 at which time he was selected as president of the United States Bank & Trust Co. Mr. Bryant was a member of the First Baptist church of Rochester and was most active in affairs of the church. He was also secretary and treasurer of the Rochester Citizens cemetery. Survivors are his wife, at home; two daughers, Mrs. Francis BASTOW, of Skokie, Ill., Mrs. Francis CARLTON, of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Peter Lynn CARLTON, a student at Grinnell College, Iowa; Jane Edith and Susan Elizabeth BASTOW, of Skokie. The body was removed to the Zimmerman Bros. funeral home where friends may call. Funeral arrangements will be announced in Saturday's edition of The News-Sentinel. --- Published in The Rochester News-Sentinel Saturday, December 3, 1949 Frank E. Bryant Funeral services for Frank E. BRYANT, Rochester pioneer citizen who died suddenly Friday morning, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. The Rev. Harry BAILEY, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here.
