Read More	Frank Knight Ends Life at Janesville Former Hartland Boy Commits Suicide by Hanging in Wisconsin City Son of William Knight of 1408 Summit Street Left Home When Boy of 19, and Eight Years Ago Was Declared Judicially Dead by Court in Order That Mother's Estate Might Be Settled - Body Brough Here Said to have been despondent over financial matters, Frank Knight, aged 48, of Janesville, Wisconsin, a former Hartland boy, and son of William Knight, ended his life by hanging at his home at Janesville Tuesday morning. Word of the death was received here with the arrival this morning of Knight's body for burial at Hartland. While Knight left no note the supposition at Janesville was that possibility financial matters might have worried Knight, altho during his fourteen years residence at Janesville the man had been considered extremely eccentric and peculiar. As a youth he became interest in Spiritualism and during more recent years or since he has been at Janesville he gained considerable local notoriety thru his public expressions concerning lessons taught him by the stars. He was very much interested in astrology and devoted much of his time to study and observations. When Knight left home, at the age of 19 he adopted the name of Zed O'Brien, said to have been the name of a boyhood friend. It was by that name that he was first introduced to Janesville, but several years later he changed his name to Zed O Bowen. It was by the latter name that Knight had been known at Janesville and under this name he transacted all of his business. Although his family here knew in more recent years that Knight was living, from the fact that he visited this city a few years ago, for a long period of years the man was believed dead. Judicially he was dead for eight years ago in order to settle the estate of his mother, who died thirty-six years ago, the court declared Knight to be legally dead and the estate was settle without Knight participating in the small share which would have belonged to him. Naturally Knight was very sociable. Last Monday it is said at Janesville, friends noticed that the man was very gloomy and despondent and tried to avoid conversation with friends. Knight lived on a farm and was engaged in trucking. He placed a ladder against a tree, around a limb of which he tied the rope. After adjusting the noose about his neck Knight kicked the ladder from under him. Frank E Knight was a native of this county, having been born on his father's farm one and one-half miles south of Harland church, December 22, 1870. He was considered one of the brightest boys in his neighborhood and was a member of the first class to be graduated from the old Hartland Academy. Afterwards he attended Penn College, Oskaloosa, and Valparasio University, Valparaiso, Indiana. It is said that he was offered a position as instructor in Latin in the latter school, but declined. Knight has been something of a rover, and has lived in many different places and followed different occupations. He was a telegraph operator, and an instructor in telegraphy. He also worked as an electrical lineman. Upon going to Janesville he took up farming, and did a good business in raising for the market vegetables, fruits and flowers. In addition to his father, Knight is survived by a brother, J L Knight who lives on the old home place south of Hartland, and one sisters, Mrs M M Kendall, of this city. The body, which was removed to the Pursel morgue will be taken to Hartland Friday for burial. Funeral services will be held from the Hartland Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be beside the grave of the man's mother, in the Hartland Cemetery.
