Description	:	Frank E. Karmazin was born January 29, 1909, on a farm east of Lawrence, NE. He was the son of Leopold and Mary (Blaha) Karmazin. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, a country school near his home and Deweese High School. Frank passed away February 8, 1988, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. He suffered a stroke on Christmas Eve and had been hospitalized since that time. He was a lifelong resident of the community. Karmazin was born January 29, 1909, on a farm east of Lawrence, NE. He was the son of Leopold and Mary (Blaha) Karmazin. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, a country school near his home and Deweese High School. Frank passed away February 8, 1988, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. He suffered a stroke on Christmas Eve and had been hospitalized since that time. He was a lifelong resident of the community. He was united in marriage to Lula Mazour at St. Martin's Church, Loucky, west of Deweese on September 22, 1931. She passed away on January 17, 1978, sharing forty-six years filled with work, travel, and wintering in Arizona. To this union three children were born: 1 son, Jerome of Lawrence, NE., 2 daughters, Mrs. Richard (Theresa) Skalka of Cypress, CA., Mrs. Bernard (Janet) Pobirk of Palisade, CO. Frank farmed in the area all of his life until his retirement in 1975. He was a real estate appraiser during the winter months for a number of years. He was interested in airplanes and flying and held a pilot license for a time. He was a kind, patient and loving person to all who knew him and he had many friends. He enjoyed spending the later winter months in Arizona. He married Agnes Hubl Svoboda on September 20, 1984. Rosary services were held Thursday, February 11 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the resurrection was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 12, 1988 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Gary Gross officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons: Kenneth, Jerry, and Tim Karmazin, Gregory, Daniel, and Patrick Skalka. Organist was Carolyn Herbek and Soloist was Tom Dolnicek. Bob Svoboda was Lector. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery Frank was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lula, a granddaughter Debbie, and his daughter-in-law and two brothers. Survivors include his wife Agnes, 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, his sister Elizabeth of Hastings and a host of nieces and nephews.
