Read More	Frank Eich of Halbur Died Friday - Jacob Neppl oat Willey Tuesday Noon - Funeral of Latter Tomorrow. Early Friday morning at his home at Halbur, there was called hence another pioneer of that part of the county, Mr. Frank Eich. For some years he had suffered with dropsical and heart troubles, but had until lately seemed better. Departed was born at Kirchdorf, Geisdingen, Kr. Siegburg, Regb. Koeln a. R. Oct. 10, 1836. He was therefore 71 years, 4 months and 26 days old. He attended the common schools and grew to sterling honest manhood in his native land. January 27, 1865, he was united in marriage to Miss Katharina Walterscheid, whom he left a sad bride to follow the call to military duty in the Prussian Austrian war. After his honorable discharge the young people came to America, locating at Troy Grove, Ill. Later they resided at Mendota, and in 1874 came to Carroll County, locating on a farm a little south of the present town of Halbur. There they resided and reared a family of respected sons and daughters, who now mourn the beloved father. About a year ago Mr. and Mrs. Eich removed to their new home in Halbur, a son retaining the homestead. There survive besides the sorrowing wife the following children: Gertrude, Sister M. Lucia, Alton, Iowa; Jos. F. Eich, druggist, Panama, Iowa; Catherine, Mrs. John Eltgroth. Carroll, Iowa; Lizzie, housekeeper for Rev. Father Baumler, Halbur; Chas. Eich, Halbur, and Frank Eich, Butte, Neb. One son, Henry, died in 1896, at the age of 12 years. There survives one Sister in Germany. All the children were present at the funeral except Sister Lucia, who was too ill to come. The funeral was held from Holy Angels' church, Roselle, Monday, and interment took place in the family burial lot there. Charles Walterscheid of Wichita, Kans., brother to Mrs. Eich, was one of those from a distance who attended the funeral. Mr. Eich was a good citizen, a kind obliging neighbor, a loving husband and father. He was industrious and saving and leaves his family well provided for. He was generous to those in need and gavefreely to all worthy causes, charitable and otherwise. The writer has known Mr. Eich for 27 years. We can sincerely attest that he was the soul of honor, a model clean, Christian gentleman. His conduct was at all times that of a man who thinks of another life to come and prepares for it by a moral irreproachable life. May he be fitly rewarded in the Better Life, is a wish we can heartily voice.
