Description	:	Funeral mass for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fortuna, both 51, who were killed in a one-car accident May 5, will be Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Scherer officiating. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the church, The Kotrba Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery. They were preceded in death by two sons. Mrs. Fortuna was the former Elizabeth Kucera, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kucera, Sr. Mr. Fortuna is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Fortuna of Dallas. They were married May 21, 1940 at Atkinson, Neb. Mr. Fortuna is also survived by six sisters, Mrs. Elinor Supik, Mrs. Josephine Sejvar, Mrs. Emma Frank and Mrs. Julie Simunek, Gregoryl Mr. Ray Echstaine, Dallas and Mrs. Joe Fott, Hamill. Mrs. Fortuna is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bryant Darnaby, Springfield, MOl and Mrs. Don Hall, Rapid City; and two brothers, Jim Kucera, San Diego, Calif., and Joe Kucera, Jr., Burke. Mr. and Mrs. Fortuna and Mrs. Jerry Vavruska were passengers in a car driven by Jerry Vavruska, 52, all of rural Gregory. The accident occurred on a graevl road nine and a half miles south of Gregory about 2 a.m. May 5. Vavruska apparently lost control of the 1961 vehicle which overturned several times. Mrs. Vavruska is reported to be recovering satisfactorily in the local hospital. Vavruska was transferred t a Sioux Falls hospital. Tuesday morning his condition was listed as serious. Hospital officials say he has chest injuries. The accident was investigated by Omer Durfee, Gregory County Sheriff; Maurice Schlaht, deputy sheriff and Howard Krueger, state patrolman. --The Daily Republic (Mitchell, SD) 7 May 1968, Page 2 combined with 10 May 1968, Page 18.
