Description	:	Frank Kalvelage was born in Lohne Germany(according to his petition for naturalization dated Sept. 25th 1913 District Court of Antelope County Nebraska (NE)). The son of Joseph and Mary Ann Haverkamp Kalvelage(Germany). Frank and one brother (Benjamin) came to America in 1901 on the Kaiser Wilhelm which left Bremen Germany approx Nov. 18th 1901. ([email protected])([email protected]) Frank Kalvelage was born at Dinklage, Oldenburg(according to a possible inaccurate obituary), Germany, the son of Joseph and Mary Ann Haverkamp Kalvelage on June 30, 1884 and passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 1961 in the Antelope Memorial hospital. Frank Kalvelage came to America from Germany in 1901 and lived at Arcadia, IA. until 1906 at which time he came to Elgin (NE) and engaged in carpenter work with the late Paul Borgmeyer. On Oct. 6, 1908 he was united in marriage to Ann Mary Baum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Baum. They moved to a farm southeast of Elgin (NE) in 1910 where they lived until 1920 when they moved to Stuart (NE) and farmed in that community until 1927, returning to farm in the vicinity of Elgin (NE) until 1945 when they retired from the farm and moved to Elgin (NE). Frank Kalvelage and his sons operated the Elgin Woodworking Shop for a number of years until ill health made it impossible for him to come to the shop every day. Frank and Ann Mary Kalvelage were the parents of eleven children, ten of whom survive (per 1961 newspaper clip). They are: Mrs. Anna Kemner (Annie Katharine born July 14, 1909) of Blanding, UT, Mrs. Eleanor Huckelberry of Las Vegas, NV, Joe (Joseph Jacob, born Nov 15, 1910), Ray, Alvis and Richard of Elgin, Fred (Fred Henry born July 2, 1912) and Herman of Omaha, John of Maysville, MO and Alfonse of Cresco, IA. One son, Robert, passed away on March 11, 1944. Other survivors include his wife Ann; 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from St. Boniface church on Thursday morning, Feb, 23rd. Rev. James Cain of Omaha officiated. Burial was made in (Elgin) St. Boniface cemetery (NE). Pallbearers were: Fred Schindler, John Flaherty, John Buelt, Lorenz Mitchell, Joe Buelt and Ray Seier. Out-of-town relatives attending the services included: Lawrence Kalvelage of Randolph (NE), Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kalvelage and Lugean Kalvelage of Wausa (NE) , Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reiniger of McLean, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Weeder of Osmond (NE), Mr. and Mrs. Alfonse Batenhorst of Stuart (NE) and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Galligan of Atkinson (NE)
