Description	:	Franz Gustav Hermann Anlauf, son of Carl Rudolph Gustav Anlauf and Marie Elisabeth Koym, was baptized in Berlin, Germany on May 5, 1872. He came to the United States about 1892 and became known as Frank. Frank married Emma Preu about 1894.* She had been born in Germany on December 9, 1867 and may have come to the United States earlier than Frank. He came to the United States about 1892 and became known as Frank. Frank married Emma Preu about 1894.* She had been born in Germany on December 9, 1867 and may have come to the United States earlier than Frank. In 1900 Frank and Emma Anlauf were living in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio where Frank was the manager and editor of a newspaper. By then, they had had three children, two surviving. Arthur Felix Anlauf was born December 18, 1895, and Olga Anlauf, in April of 1898, both born in Ohio. By 1903, the family had moved to Oklahoma where Frank was a printer for a daily paper. In 1903 he was chosen to be the secretary of the Oklahoma State Spiritualists Society. By 1910, Frank and Emma had had three more children, all born in Oklahoma: Dora, about 1903; Lucile, about 1905; and Albert, on December 25, 1907. By 1920 Frank and Emma Anlauf had divorced. Frank had become a printer for a newspaper in Pueblo, Colorado, When the census was taken on January 3, 1920 in Pueblo, three of their children were listed with Frank: Arthur who was an automobile mechanic, Lucile, and Albert. Emma was in Oklahoma City when the census was taken there twelve days later, and two of their children were listed with her, Arthur again, an auto mechanic, and Dora. By 1923 Emma was living in Los Angeles, California. Their son Arthur was there in the Home for Disabled Soldiers for about four months that year. (He had enlisted in Colorado in 1917, had served in an anti-aircraft regiment in World War I, and had been discharged in 1919.) By 1930 Emma was living in Fontana, California, with their daughter Alda M. [sic Olga] who had become the wife of William H. Shurtz. On November 17, 1933, Frank Anlauf married Sarah E. (Allen) Birch in Pueblo, Colorado. It was his second marriage, and her fourth. Sarah E. Anlauf, died September 9, 1953 in Pueblo. Frank spent his last years in the Union Printers' Home in Colorado Springs, Colorado and died in February of 1962. His first wife, Emma Anlauf, had died in Los Angeles, California on November 19, 1954. *The following from contributor #47499110: Frank Anlauf married Emma Prew on 15 Apr 1892 in Newark, Essex, New Jersey.
