He passed away in the Lewellen Nebraska hospital, Nov. 10, 1951. Frank was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. In 1886 his parents and family moved to Perkins County. Frank's parents settled on a homestead 10 miles east of the present site of Venango. His father established a store and postoffice in this place called Winchester, Nebr. After the railroad was put through in 1887, the town of Venango was established and the store and postoffice of Winchester was discontinued. His present home was homesteaded in 1901, and he has resided at the present home place all these years. Frank was one of the few early day settlers who was living on his original homestead of Perkins County at the time of his passing away. Frank Hopkins and Serena Parrott were united in marriage Jan. 1, 1903. To union two children were born; Lysle Hopkins of Ovid, Colo. and Hazel Dodson of Venango, the wife and children surviving the father. Frank leaves to mourn his death, his wife, his son and daughter, two sisters, Nellie Clemmons of St. Paul, Minn. and Carrie Watkins of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Robert L. Wieduwilt at the First Congregational church of Venango with burial in the Venango cemetery, Tuesday, Nov. 13. Two duets, "In the Garden," and "Whispering Hope" were sung by Mr. Adam Lichtenberg and Mrs. George Daigger with Mrs. H. Rinehart at the piano.
