Read More	FRANK HOLZMAN CALLED BY DEATH Pioneer Plymouth County 50 Years Dies After Stroke Frank Holzman, resident of Plymouth County since 1883, and prominent farmer for many years passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital Monday noon, following a stroke from which he failed to rally. He was 71 years, 10 months, and 16 days of age at the time of his death. Found By Son-in-law Mr. Holzman, has lived alone at 45 Sixth Avenue, SE, since the death of his wife a few years ago, was found on Friday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Dreckman, daughter and son-in-law, came to town for the customary call, but the house was dark, and no one responded to their knock, they presumed that Mr. Holzman had retired. In the morning, Joe Dreckman and his brother, Leo came to bring the milk, and being a little uneasy not seeing Mr. Holzman up, they broke a window. Entering they found him sitting in his chair fully dressed but unable to talk. The doctor was called and Wiltgen ambulance took him to the hospital. Although Mr. Holzman appeared to be conscious he never recovered speech and passed away this morning. Born In 1860 Frank Holzman was born in Austria on December 15, 1860, the son of George and Anna Holzman and was reared on a far in his native land. When 22 years of age he came to the United States sailing from Bremen to the port of New York whence he came immediately to Iowa, arriving at Le Mars n February 10, 1883. After a few years he purchased his own farm in Stanton Township where he lived until some years ago when he retired and came to the city of Le Mars. United In Marriage He was united in marriage to Kate Ruba and to this union five children were born. His wife preceded him in death a few years ago. He leaves to mourn his loss four daughters, Mrs. Frank Deters, of Minnesota, Mrs. Jos. Dreckman, Mrs. Leo Dreckman and Miss Katerine Holzman and one son Frank Holzman. A number of grandchildren and other relatives survive. Active In Church Deceased was a member f St. Joseph’s Church and has always been active in church affairs. He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Society and also the Holy Name Society. Aside from his church interest, he displayed a keen interest in community work, and severed several terms as school director of Stanton Township. He has a host of friends who join with the family in sorrowing for his death. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning. Wiltgen’s are in charge of the funeral arrangements. Interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery. Le Mars Globe Post Monday, October 31, 1932 Le Mars, Iowa STRICKEN WHILE ALONE IN HOME FRANK HOLZMAN, WELL KNOWN BRIEF ILLNESS Frank Holzman, well known retired farmer, living at 45 Sixth Avenue SE., was found in his home where he lives alone, Saturday morning, in an unconscious condition. He was sitting in a rocking chair in close proximity to a gas stove and was apparently stricken with illness sometime during the night. He was found by his sons-in-law, John and Leo Dreckman. With other members of the family, the Dreckman and Holsman young people see Mr. Holzman daily. At first it was though that gas escaping from the stove was responsible for his illness but a physician called in controverter this opinion and the cause was laid to the effects of a stroke. Mr. Holzman was conveyed to the Sacred Heart Hospital where yesterday his condition was reported as serious. Fails To Recover Mr. Holzman passed away without regaining consciousness Monday afternoon. Frank Holzman was a native of Germany where he was born seventy-two years ago and came to America when a youth. He was a resident of Plymouth County for over fifty years and farmed successfully in Stanton Township many years until retiring a short time ago t make his home in Le Mars. His wife, Margaret Ruba, preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his death his children, Mrs. Barbara Deters, Miss Katherine Holzman, Mrs. Lena Dreckman, and Mrs. Anna Dreckman. The funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Holzman was a good citizen and neighbor, a jovial companion and was held in high esteem in the community where he lived his life.
