They were the parents of Edward, Elmer, and Harold. They were the parents of Edward, Elmer, and Harold. April 21, 1933 - Carroll Daily Herald - Frank Throop, of 214 East Sixth street, Civil war veteran, died last evening about 7:30 o'clock at his home. He had been failing in health for some time and death was the result of infirmities due to his advanced age. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church and will be conducted by the Rev. Henry C. Schneider. Burial will be by the side of his wife in the city cemetery. An escort and firing squad from Maurice Dunn post, American Leigon, will be in attendance. Francis Hunter Throop was born at Meadville, Pa., Sept. 1, 1846. He was the last of a family of six children. Jan. 12, 1861, he enlisted as a private in Company B, seventeenth regular U.S. cavalry, and was discharged Dec. 15, 1865. He came to Carroll in the early days and for a time made his headquarters at the Delaney house. He was a carpenter by occupation and worked with the bridge crew of the Chicago and North Western Railroad company for many years. He retired from active labor about 20 years ago. He was united in marriage Miss Ann Lichtensteiger, Dec. 18, 1895, and to this union three sons were born, Edward and Elmer Throop, of Carroll, and F. Throop of Los Angeles. Calif. The latter will not be able to come for the funeral. He also leaves two granddaughters, Thelma and Dorothy Throop. Mrs. Throop died April 22, 1930. With Mr. Throop's death there is but one Civil war veteran living here - T.A. Yender.
