Never married, his survivors include two brothers, Herbert and James, both of Catherine; five sisters, Mrs. Rudy (Clare) Rohr, San Gabriel, Calif., Mrs. George (Angela) Koerner, Munjor, Miss Ceceilia Staab, Catherine, Mrs. Ralph (Louise) Koerner and Mrs. John (Alice) Kundred, both of Hays. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Catherine’s Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Brock’s North Hill Chapel from noon Saturday until service time.... Both the big leagues and the minor leagues have been blessed with a few of SJMA/TMP/TMP-Marian players, including Larry Staab '61, Greg Korbe '74, Mike Befort '78, & Lyle Befort '83. Other baseball notoriety mentioned were Coach Dusty Glassman '34, Hubert Urban '42, Curtis Befort '81, Rusty Schueler '82 & Billy Schafer '85. It has been noted that Hays has the oldest continuous baseball program in the state of Kansas, with photos showing one of the first baseball teams, named the Hays Eagles, in 1901.
