Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Lake City Union Church in Lake City. The Rev. Betty Weidert will officiate. Burial is in the Lake City Cemetery with military honors by the Lake City VFW and American Legion. He went on to graduate... Read More	Frank Jacobs, 89, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in the home where is was born January 22, 1917, in Lake City. He went on to graduate from Buena Vista College in 1939 and the University of Iowa School of Law in 1948, after serving during World War II. While in law school, he was awarded a State of Iowa Certificate of Valor for saving a child from drowning. During World War II, 1941 to 1946, he served as both an enlisted (Infantry) and as a commissioned Officer (Army Air Corps). Frank and Maxine Young Beeler were married in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Sept. 5, 1942, upon his completion of the Army Air Corps Bombardier School. After graduation from Law School, he practiced in Sioux City for 44 years from 1948 to 1982. He retired as senior partner from the law firm of Jacobs, Gaul and Nieman. Frank was active in the First Presbyterian Church, Sioux City, serving as a member on the Board of Deacons and on the Board of Trustees. He was also an active member of the Sioux City Bar Association. After returning to Lake City in 1993, Frank and Maxine became members of the Union Church. Frank served on the Central School Historical Society and became a member of the American Legion Post 31. He was also an avid supporter of the Southern Cal High School football program. He is survived by two sons: William (Jordis) Jacobs, Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Michael (Kristi) Jacobs, Davenport, IA.; six grandchildren, MAJ Christopher (Rosemary) Jacobs, Charlottesville, VA; Andrew (Beth) Jacobs, Milwaukee, WI; Jason (Leah) Jacobs, Davenport, IA; twins Jennifer Jacobs, Peoria, IL and Janell (Jamie) Armstrong, Ottawa, IL and Margaret (Matt) Dorshorst, Rudolph, WI; seven great-grandchildren, Alexander, Rosemary, Genevieve, Emma, Elisabeth, Victoria and Sara. Survivors also include in-laws, Dr. George and Maurine Ott, Joyce Groen, Bryon and Elva Joy Young, Jack and Jean Stubbs; and numerous nieces and nephews including Katherine, Roger, Carol, Dennis, Sharon, Patricia, Jacqueline, Rick, Larry, Bonnie, Mary Jane, David, Nancy, Duane, Karen, Jolene and Dick. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maxine, his parents, Walter and Helen, and his sister, Virginia.
