Read More	Obituary: "Frank John Ebel was born at Rochester New York, May 13, 1862 and passed away in Winner, South Dakota on December 9, 1944, at the age of 82 years, six months and 26 days. At the age of four years he came with his parents to Colombus, Nebraska, where they took a homestead claim. There he grew to manhood, experiencing many pioneer day hardships. In his boyhood days he helped in farm work with ox team. He well remembered the great blizzard of 1888. On October 19, 1885, he was united in marriage to Mary Berger of Bellwood, Nebraska. After residing on a farm near Bellwood, Nebraska, they moved to Greely Center, Nebraska, where he continued to farm until his wife's death in 1912. For a time he lived in Chadron, Nebraska and Valentine, Nebraska, coming to Tripp County, South Dakota from Wood lake, Nebraska in 1917. In October 1922 he quit farming and moved to Winner, South Dakota where he did work on the roads. In 1929 he went to Bennett County where he again farmed until he returned to Winner in the fall of 1933, to make his home with a daughter (Julia). He leaves to mourn his departure four daughters and one son, Katherine Lobdell, of Dexter, Michigan; Julia of Winner, South Dakota; Ellen Swetzig of Hermosa, South Dakota; Margaret Patton of Millboro; Frank Ebel Jr.; and one brother Henry Ebel of Bellwood, Nebraska; 19 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. One daughter, Theresia preceded him in death. He was a kind and loving father, always thoughtful of the comfort of those near and dear to him. His passing leaves us with sad and aching hearts. He never parted with his three little girls, left motherless by the death of his wife in 1912. He continued to provide and make a home for them and raised them as best he could. Funeral services were conducted at the Catholic Church by Father Virnig, Wednesday, December 13, 1944, at 10 a.m. Interment was made at the Catholic Cemetery at Winner, South Dakota.
