Both were brought to the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Monday afternoon. Jurgensmeier died at 5 p.m. today. The attending physician reported that Peterson will probably recover, though he suffered severe chest injuries. It is thought the machines side-swiped each other. The truck left the road and was upside down at the foot of the fill, which is about 20 feet high at the point. Jurgensmeier's light coupe was standing in the road, the driver crushed behind the steering wheel. Friend said that just as he arrived in sight of the accident, he saw Peterson standing beside the upturned truck. Before he arrived, however, the driver had collapsed. Friend summoned a physician from Lawrence. Both men were given emergency treatment and then brought to Hastings in ambulances. Jurgensmeier lived on a farm about a mile and a half from the scene of the accident. He is survived by a wife and six small children. Peterson lives at 804 west Seventh street. He is an employee of Swift & Company and was driving a company truck. -- Hastings Tribune (Friday) The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, March 20, 1930 =============== Frank Jurgensmeier was born on February 5, 1898, near Lawrence, Nebraska, and passed away at the Mary Lanning Memorial hospital in Hastings, March 18, 1930, aged 32 years, 1 month and 13 days. Death was due to injuries received in an automobile accident a few hours before. The deceased was married October 20, 1919, at the Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence, to Miss Mary Kohmetscher, who with their six children survive the tragic death of a loving husband and father. The children are all small ranging in age from 10 years to a babe in arms of 10 months. Others of the immediate family who mourn the loss are the parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jurgensmeier of Lawrence, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Theer, Shickley; Bernard, Henry and Stephen Jurgensmeier and Mrs. C.F. Walz of Lawrence; Joseph of Emmett, Nebr., Mrs. Frank Lohrmeyer, Mrs. George Reiman, Mrs. Joe Reiman and Mrs. Bernard Becker of Logan, Kans.; all of whom were present for the final obsequies. Funeral services were conducted last Thursday morning by Rev. A.
