Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier will officiate. Mr. Drawl was born Nov. 27, 1933, in southwestern Boone County to Leo F. and Mary M. (Micek) Drawl. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Leona; a daughter, Mary Lee Robinson of Salem, S.C.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald and Kathleen Drawl of Omaha, James Drawl of Primrose and Thomas and Sheryl Drawl of Spalding; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Pete Kraft of Bellevue. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Kyle (Rachel) Robinson of Hastings, Clay Robinson of Clay Center, Thomas, Jordan and Taylor Drawl of Spalding, and one great-grandchild, Maddox Robinson of Hastings. Frank was the youngest of three children. He was educated through the eighth grade at District 29. He attended catechism at St. Anthony’s school, where he received first Holy Communion and Confirmation. Frank enlisted in the United States Army on July 6, 1956. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 13, 1957, because his mother and father became ill and were unable to maintain the farm. On May 3, 1958, he married Leona Marie Zimmerman at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. To this union five children were born, four sons, Ronald, Leo, James and Thomas, and one daughter, Mary Lee. Frank and Leona farmed in the rural southwest Boone County their entire life and ran a dairy for 20 years. Frank retired in 1985 and continued living on the farm. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Leo; and a sister, Rose Moore.
