Whitesmith officiated. Burial was in the Mitchellville cemetery. The deceased, who is a brother of Mrs. Jessie Butin and Mrs. Mamie Carney of Newton, was born Sept. 6, 1873 in Reasnor. His father, a native of Kentucky and his mother a native of Indiana, moved to Jasper County in 1858. In 1895 he was united in marriage to Sarah Seagel of Galesburg. Forty-five years of their 53 years of married life was spent in Mitchellville. Mr. Romans was employed as a section hand, helping to build the old inter-urban line from Colfax to Des Moines. Survivors besides his two sisters are his widow, seven children, Lewis of Des Moines; Mrs. Mabel Griffeon, Mingo; Mrs. Mary Boatwright, Des Moines; Jesse of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Vera Browne, Chicago, Virgil and Mrs. Helen Betraud both of Des Moines, also 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren and one brother, Clyde Romans of Reasnor.
