His memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, at the Clover A.R.P. Church with the Rev. Evan English officiating. His memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, at the Clover A.R.P. Church with the Rev. Evan English officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Mr. McElwee was born February 12, 1923, in Clover, S.C. to the late Frank Love McElwee Sr. and Mary Mildred Parrott McElwee. He was the widower of Rae M. McElwee and a member of Clover A.R.P. Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, taught the Men's Bible Class since the 1960's and was in the choir for 30 years. He was a past member of the Clover Library Board and a member of Masonic Alpine Lodge #208 since 1948. Mr. McElwee was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II, a 1954 graduate of Wofford College and began teaching at York Elementary in 1954. He was the first Principal of York Jr. High School from 1956 to 1960 and then he became a Counselor for Vocational Rehabilitation until he retired in 1984. Survivors are his daughters, Millie Jo Plyler (Tony) of Liberty Hill, S.C. and Kathy Rae Brewer (Chuck) of Clover, S.C.; sons, Frank L. McElwee III (Kathy) of Matthews, N.C. and David McElwee (Yvonne) of Clover, S.C.; brother, Joe McElwee of Chester, S.C.; grandchildren, Kelley Brewer, Katie B. Amabile, Robert McElwee, Ross McElwee, Alex McElwee and Morgan McElwee and two great grandchildren, Peyton and Charliana. Memorials may be made to the Clover A.R.P. Church Building Fund, 127 Kings Mountain Street, Clover, SC 29710. M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover, S.C. is serving the family of Mr. McElwee.
