His soul left this present life on the evening of March 14, 1950, near Mission, Kansas, as the result of an automobile accident, at the age of 19 years, 11 months and 1 day. Three of his fellow students also departed this world as a result of this tragic accident. Frank lived his entire life in Glasco. He was baptized in infancy, April 5, 1931, in the Presbyterian church of Glasco. At the age of 14, 1945, he joined the membership of this church of his own accord. During the past year Frank was elected and served as junior deacon of this church. His popularity as a leader was evident from early youth. As a boy he exerted great influence on his friends in following the Christian life. This leadership did not wane as he grew into manhood, but on the contrary grew stronger. His high school classmates considered him a leader. Three of the four years in school he was chosen class president. His ability as an all-around athlete, indicative of his clean living, is evidenced by his lettering four years in basketball and football in the Glasco school and election as captain of the football team in his senior year. As a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Kansas University, Frank was outstanding in both scholarship and athletics. He found time to participate in intramural football and basketball as well as maintaining a high scholarship standing. Relatives claim him as a perfect son and brother and friends regard highly Mac's fellowship. He accepted God with sincere and true faith. His selection of medicine as his aim in higher education is evidence of his humanitarian and Christian ideals. It was his intention to make a contribution toward the relief of sickness and ill health in his fellowmen. He leaves to mourn his death his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. McCollough of Glasco, and one sister, Mrs. Lois Schneider and her children, Shirley Sue and Larry; another sister, Mrs. Struve Hering and her children, Denise and Debra of Indianola, Nebraska. Struve Eugene Hering, an infant nephew, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 18th, at the Christian church in Glasco, conducted by the Rev. Eugene Smith and the Rev. Wayne Testerman. "Abide with Me" and "The Lord's Prayer" were sung by a quartet composed of Wayne Attwood, Robert Dare, Edward Grandle, and John Hoyt, accompanied by Richard Altman and Byron Bohl, all fraternity brothers of the deceased. Pallbearers were Dick Martin, Duane Gehrke, Don Downing, Palmer nelson, Denzel Adams, and Andy Struble. Flower bearers were Mrs. Anna Brown, Mrs. Verna Nutland, Miss Reva McNeil, and Mrs. Nettie Ellis. Interment was in Glasco cemetery with the Griffith Funeral Home in charge. Approximately fifty of the deceased fraternity brothers attended the service in a body.
