Read More	From Nevada Journal February 20, 1945 Last Rites for Frank Whitaker Held on Monday Funeral services for Frank Whitaker, native son of Story county who was born on the Whitaker homestead southeast of Nevada, where he passed away Friday, Feb. 16, were held from the Morfoot Funeral Home Monday afternoon a 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill and the Rev. Theo. Yackel in charge of the services. Mrs. Yackel was at the organ, Mrs. Kenneth Rapp and Mrs. Lloyd Shickell sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", "We Are Going Down the Valley" and "Shall We Meet". The casket-bearers were Harold Bloomberg, Roy Weeks, Glen Hubbard, Albert Hill, Carl Hill and Carl Howell. Many flowers banked the bier, expressing the love and esteem in which the deceased was held. A brief prayer service at the Whitaker home at 1:30 preceded the funeral service. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery. The following obituary of the deceased was read at the funeral service. "Frank Whitaker, son of Thomas and Harriet Whitaker, was born August 20th, 1871 on the farm about four miles southeast of Nevada, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. In the year 1894, February 14th, he was united in marriage to Ada May Bates and they lived and made their home on the same farm on which Mrs. Whitaker was born, except for one year. To this union was born two sons, Elmer Thomas and Claude Elnathan. Mr. Whitaker passed away February 16th, 1945, age 73 years, three months and 14 days. His wife passed away in the year 1939. One brother and one sister also preceded him in death. Those surviving to mourn his passing are his sons, Elmer and Claude, five grandchildren, four sisters, Louise Carter of Maxwell, Mary Tichenour of Nevada, Hattie Tichenour of Colo, and Maggie Coxworth, Gucheen, Minn. He was a loving farther and frandfather and a highly respected citizen." Among those from a distance in attendance at the last rites were Mrs. Ed Coxworth and two daughters of Guckeen, Minn.; Frank Robinson of Rolfe; and Mr. and Mrs. Rob Rouse of Ruthven. A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends from various places in the county were in attendance paying their last tribute of respect to one who had lived his entire life in this community.
