Description	:	Frank’s funeral notice, which I have transcribed below, states that he was survived by a son, Francis, and two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Powers in California and Mrs. Juanita Day of Ottumwa. Francis, Juanita and Ethel, were also named as surviving children in Ella's obituary, and at that time, they were all living in Ottumwa. I believe that Juanita was the daughter of Frank’s sister, Clara, aka Carrie, and her first husband, Lee Howard, who were married October 19, 1889, in Wapello County, Iowa. I believe that Juanita was the daughter of Frank’s sister, Clara, aka Carrie, and her first husband, Lee Howard, who were married October 19, 1889, in Wapello County, Iowa. Juanita’s middle name was Ethel, and Ethel Howard was shown in the 1910 Census for Ottumwa, Iowa, living with F.M. and Ella M. Brady, and she was shown as their niece. Juanita Ethel Day I believe the surviving daughter Mrs. Ethel Powers is the Ethel B. Brady, age 10, living with Frank and Ella in the 1910 Census for Ottumwa, Iowa. She was shown in that census as their adopted daughter, with granddaughter in parenthesis. From the information I have found, it is my opinion that Ethel was not actually their birth granddaughter. Ethel V. Brady was married to Glen L. Powers on September 30, 1916, in Wapello County, Iowa, and her parents are named on the marriage record as Frank and Ella (Price) Brady. In the January 1, 1925, Census for Ottumwa, Iowa, Ethel stated that her father’s name was John Ploper. No mother’s name was given, but she stated her mother was born in Denmark. Ancestry.com cites an obituary published in the Obituary Daily Times Index on July 4, 2001, stating that she died in Ridgecrest, California, and her name was listed as Ethel Virginia (Brady) (Plopper) Powers. I believe that Ethel was probably the daughter of John L. and Patrina (Christianson) Plopper, who are buried in the same plot in the same cemetery that she is, but I am not certain enough of this to request an edit link. Ethel Virginia Powers ------------------------------------ A notice of death was published for Frank in the “Ottumwa Courier,” on the day he died, stating that he died suddenly at 7:00 a.m. today at Cedar Rapids. The notice also stated that he had shoveled snow during the day Monday, and he died of a heart attack. “Brady Services” From “Ottumwa Courier,” March 11, 1959: Funeral services for Frank M. Brady, 84, will be held at the Community Funeral home Friday at 1:30 p.m. The body will arrive from Cedar Rapids Thursday. The Rev. R.F. Dinsmore of the Foursquare church of Ottumwa will be in charge. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Lawson, Russ Lawson, Donald Lawson, James Nesbit, Harold Nesbit, and John North. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Mr. Brady was a son of Frank M. and Mary Brady of Brighton, born in Agency in 1875. He was a member of the First Methodist church. His wife died in 1949. He worked for John Morrell & Co. in the pork kill and cut departments for 45 years. He retired in 1942. He lived in Cedar Rapids with his son Francis for the past three years. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Powers in California and Mrs. Juanita Day of Ottumwa, and nine grandchildren.
