Satter. For fifteen years editor of the Central City News-Letter, which under his ownership developed into one of the foremost small town newspapers of the state. Mr. Satter came to Central City in 1927, after many years of experience with papers at Jefferson, Carroll, and other Iowa towns, and had retired in 1942 because of failing health. He had an active part in the development of every local enterprise. He was jovial, generous, energetic and made many friends easily. For several years he was secretary of the Linn County fair. He belonged to the Masons, the Eastern Star, the Knights of Pythias, and the American Legion--having served on the Mexican border in 1916-17. Mr. Satter was born in Wiota, Cass county, June 22, 1877, was married at Algona to Anna G. Harrison in September, 1898, who survives. A son and daughter preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church, the entire front of which was a tribute of flowers, and more tears were in the eyes of strong men than seen there for many a day, as the Rev. M.C. Melcher, the pastor, paid his touching tribute to his friend. Burial was made in the Mt. Clark cemetery, following a service at the grave conducted by Level lodge, No. 284, A.F. & A.M.
