Brown of Keota had charge of the services assisted by Rev. E. L. Bellows of Lone Tree. Music was furnished by a male quartet including Merrill Kelso and Earl Rife of Lone Tree and Leland and Tracy Billick of West Liberty, with Mrs. Earl Rife as accompanist. Four favorite hymns were sung, including “What a Friend”, “Does Jesus Care”, “Home of the Soul”, and “Sweetly Resting”. McMillan, Lawrence Hall, Harry Horesowsky and Frank Hoskins, all of Lone Tree and Charles Krueger of Joy, Illinois. Flower attendants were Mrs. Harry Reiss, Mrs. William Shebanek, and Mrs. Ward S. Hatfield, Mrs. Leo Walker and Mrs. Harry Horesowsky. Burial was made in the Lone Tree cemetery. Obituary Frank Osborne Lutz was born November 23, 1868 two miles south of Lone Tree, the son of James H. and Martha Jane Latta Lutz. He passed away at his home in Lone Tree October 10, 1945 at 2:15 a.m. at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 17 days. He had lived his entire life in the vicinity of Lone Tree. He was one of a family of twelve children, nine of who preceded him in death. He was married in 1890 to Mary Josephine Shaffer, who died July 14, 1891. To this union was born one born one child, Mrs. Zella Bates. On February 14, 1900, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Billick at Conesville, Iowa. Six children were born to this union, all of who survive. He is survived by his wodow, three daughters, Mrs. Zella Bates of Davenport, Mrs. Helen Walker of Iowa City, Mrs. Nettie Berven of Lone Tree, four sons: James on the home farm, Raymond of Conesville, Evan of Muscatine and Paul of Conesville. There are eleven grandchildren and one great grandson, one sister, Mrs. Anna Mendenhall of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and one brother, James H. Lutz of Iowa City, who also survive. A nephew, Joseph Billick of West Branch, lived in this home until early manhood. Freddie Slaughter of Lone Tree, from the age of 9, was also a member of this family.
