Peter Pletsch was born on November 14, 1811 in Schwedelbach and died on August 27, 1866 in Kindsbach. Peter's parents were Johann Adam Pletsch (1763 to 12-26-1788) and Susanne Marschall (3-10-1771 to 1-9 - 1851). Frank's mother Eva Roth (born 2-5-1813 in Kindsbach and died 5-1-1867) was the daughter of Nikolaus Roth (born 5-20-1776 and died 6-29-1843 in Kindsbach and Eva Wiehn (born 3-8-1776 and died 11-8-1851 in Kindsbach). Frank's mother Eva Roth (born 2-5-1813 in Kindsbach and died 5-1-1867) was the daughter of Nikolaus Roth (born 5-20-1776 and died 6-29-1843 in Kindsbach and Eva Wiehn (born 3-8-1776 and died 11-8-1851 in Kindsbach). Frank was in New York on March 3, 1870 after arriving on the ship, Holsatia with his friend Jacob Thum. Their passage was listed as between decks. He first settled near Sioux City, Iowa. He met Mary Myers in LeMars, IA and they wed on May 22, 1877. As newlyweds, they moved to Ponca, NE and in 1879, Mr. Pletsch became engaged in the business of making and repairing footwear in a partnership with Tom Welty. Sometimes later he operated a saloon in Newcastle, NE and a grocery store in Ponca, NE. Subsequently, he re -entered the shoe repair trade and continued in this capacity for practically the remainder of his life. Frank Pletsch built a home in Ponca across the street from the Owen McQuillan home and Blacksmith Shop. The family consisted of 11 children, born and raised in the vicinity of Ponca. In later years, they occupied a different home with their poodle Snookems. After Frank's death in 1922 Mary spent the remainder of her years in the Sioux City area.
