"Hump" Campbell 65, who visited more towns and cities in the United Stated than any other local man as bill poster and advance agent for Ringling Brothers and other circuses, is dead. The end cam to the well known native of Marysville a week ago Wednesday after a long siege of rheumatism at the home of his sisters in Warden, Wash. Learning to post bills here when a young man, he went on the road with Campbell Brothers Fairbury, Neb, circus. He was not related to the circus owners, however, the name were spelled the same. Was With Ringling After traveling about for two years as bell poster and advance agent for Campbell Brother, he contracted with Ringling Brothers as advance agent, supervising the advertising of the big show's three units. Twenty-two years later when his illness prevented him carrying on for the big show, he stepped down to the 101 Ranch Shows in the capacity of agent for a year. Then he was employed for about five years with the National Advertising Company, Kansas City. Popular Man Here "Hump" was one of the town's most popular citizens. He spent his winters here, and was the center of attraction for those who liked to hear him tell about his experiences making the away for the big top's showing. He was in every town the size of Marysville in the United States, southern Canada and northern Mexico, according to his brother, A. B. Campbell, city councilman. This did not include many larger and smaller ones. He was intimate with John Ringling, and knew most of the big showmen of the time. He was born December 29, 1873 in Marysville. Others surviving are his sisters, Mary, Christie, Belle, Kathryn and Etta Campbell all of Warden. Washington Death Certificates Name F.S.
