Mr. Crawford was one of two men in Greenbrier County first called for military service in World War II in November 1941. He served in the European Theater rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Tank Corps. Mr. Crawford was wounded in action in France and was honorably discharged from the army in November 1947.
