Mr. Vondra died of the infirmities of old age at his home at 9:45 p.m. on August 22, after having been in failing health for the past ten weeks. Services were held from the home to the Bruno Hall, the Rev. K. O. Zvadil of Wilber giving the funeral sermon and conducting the last rites at the Bohemian National Cemetary. The hymns were sung by Mrs. Sniza of Wilber. The pallbearers were Edward Slegl, Raymond Novak, Max Kaspar, Emil Vondra, Louis Vondra and Joseph Ratjmeier. Out of respect to the aged citizen, all Bruno businesses were closed during the services. Frank Vondra, son of John and Anna Vondra, was born on June 24, 1864 at Zestovice, Bohemia and was 80 years, 1 month and 29 days of age at his passing. When he was 10 years old, his parents emigrated to the United States settling in Saunders County. He was married to Miss Anna Zavodny at Wahoo on October 9, 1889. With the exception of one year spent in Wilber, Mr. and Mrs. Vondra lived on the home place until 1924 when they retired from farm life, and moved to Bruno to spend their declining years. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Vondra, one daughter, Rose, passing away in infancy. The surviving children are Mrs. Emma Junek, Malmo, Mrs. Anna Krivanek, Wahoo, William Vondra, Weston. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Mr. Vondra was the last survivor of the immediate family. Mr. Vondra had a wide acquaintance and possessed a host of friends. He enjoyed reading and the companionship of his friends meant much to him. Tolerant and agreeable, he was ever ready to offer a friendly greeting.
