Description	:	Frank Wade McKay, 93, of Vevay, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in Vevay. He was born July 3, 1916, in Switzerland County, the son of Clyde and Anna F. Fagg McKay. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1939 graduate of Vevay High School. He began his employment as a design engineer with the Curtis Wright Aircraft Corp. in Louisville, Ky., where he worked during World War II. Read More	Frank Wade McKay, 93, of Vevay, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in Vevay. He was born July 3, 1916, in Switzerland County, the son of Clyde and Anna F. Fagg McKay. He was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1939 graduate of Vevay High School. He began his employment as a design engineer with the Curtis Wright Aircraft Corp. in Louisville, Ky., where he worked during World War II. He was later employed with the Charlestown Ammunition Plant as an engineer. He retired from the Jefferson Proving Ground, where he was a civil service engineer. He was an inventor and designer. He had invented the first treadmill and the first wheelchair to go up and down stairs. His latest invention was a septic tank distribution box that equalized the flow to control odor. He also created an elaborate computer program for the stock market to raise funds and to support a foundation for World Peace. During his years of employment with the civil service, he received his college equivalency in engineering. He was raised in the old Braytown Christian Church and later became a member of the First Christian Church in Madison. He enjoyed family, boating and water skiing on the Ohio River. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Anna Kathryn Miller McKay, whom he married April 15, 1939; one son, Clair Albert McKay of Vevay; one daughter, Amy Delores Konkle of Indianapolis; two brothers, Joe McKay of Henryville and Jerry McKay of Memphis; one sister, Emme Lou Hartley of Madison; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his caregivers, Linda and Steve Swango and family of Vevay; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Robena Armes, Rebecca Lucille Liter, Phoebe Hensley and Mary Wentworth; three brothers, Arthur William McKay, Guy McKay and Ralph E. McKay; and one great-granddaughter. The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery. Madison Courier 5/7/10
