Schaepler and his wife Anna, nee Heitman, was born July 2, 1886 near Lincoln, Ill. He became God’s child by sacrament of Holy Baptism on August 8, 1886, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Lincoln, Ill. Schaepler and his wife Anna, nee Heitman, was born July 2, 1886 near Lincoln, Ill. He became God’s child by sacrament of Holy Baptism on August 8, 1886, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Lincoln, Ill. He came with his parents to a farm in Hamilton County at the age of 6 and attended grade school at Zion Lutheran, Hampton and received the rite of confirmation on March 31, 1901 by Pastor Theodore Moellering. He was married to Leona Von Housen, Oct. 7, 1908 at Zion Lutheran Church. They moved onto a farm in York County and lived there until a year ago, when they moved to Polk. On February 25, he was taken to the Aurora Hospital, following a stroke. He fell asleep in the arms of his Saviour, March 3, at 8:30 P.M. at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 1 day. He leaves to mourn, his wife Leona, two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Vera) Blasé and Miss Delta Schaepler at home; two sons-in-law, Henry Blase and Raymond Stunkel; one sister Mrs. J. Vogt of Lincoln; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.; his daughter Mrs. Raymond (Stella) Stunkle and a granddaughter, Gladys Blase. Services were held Wednesday, March 6, from the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Enno Schuelke officiating. A quartet, Lavern Schulze, Ervin Blasé, Elmer Wilshusen, Kenneth Wilshusen sang “What God Ordains is Always Good” and “Asleep in Jesus, Blessed Sleep”. Arlan Warneke accompanied at the organ. Bearers were Henry Brockman, Harold Joseph, Ralph Reed, Alvin Smith, Hilmer Smith, Lloyd Van Housen. Interment was in Immanuel Cemetery.
