Read More	FRANK CARVER DIES FOLLOWING OPERATION Well Known Resident of Spencer This County Passes Away at Iowa City Frank W. Carver, a resident of this county for thirty-six years, died at the University Hospital in Iowa City last Wednesday night, of peritonitis following an operation for gallstones. He became seriously ill last month and was taken to Iowa City two weeks ago for hospital treatment. The operation was performed Tuesday morning, August 2. His condition became alarming on Wednesday morning and word was sent to Spencer. Mrs. Carver and her son Marion left here for Iowa City by auto. Mr. Carver passed away about nine o'clock, an hour before their arrival. He was 45 years, 5 months and 22 days of age. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church here last Friday afternoon and were conducted by Robert L. Stuart of Newton, Iowa, formerly Methodist pastor in Spencer. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Spencer. Frank Willis Carver was born at Hull, Iowa, February 12, 1881, and was the sixth child of John and Mary E. Carver. At the age of nine years he came with his parents to this county, where he grew up. He attended Spencer high school and played on the football team and acquired an interest in athletics which remained strong in him for the rest of his life. He also studied at Morningside college. During the summer of 1904 while making his home with a sister and her husband at Osage, Iowa, he made the acquaintance of Miss Mabel B. Swann. This acquaintance culminated in their marriage at Osage, November 21, 1905. Six sons were born to them--Marion W., Wilbur L., Maurice S., Lawrence J., Francis B., and Robert L., all of whom live with their mother in Spencer. After spending the first years of their married life on a farm, Mr. and Mrs. Carver moved to Spencer in 1911 when Mr. Carver entered the employment of John Sexton & Company, Chicago wholesale grocers, as their sales manager in this district, which position he retained until his death. He was a constable in Spencer for the last seven or eight years and was renominated for the office by the republicans at the recent primary. Mr. Carver's people were members of the Friends church and he joined that church at an early age and was active in its service. After his marriage he joined the Methodist church and supported it loyally. He was an active members of the Sons of Veterans. Frank Carver was a kind and loving husband, an ideal father and a staunch and loyal friend. He lived his youth over again in the lives of his boys, in whose achievements he took great pride. What was their interest was his interest. He encouraged them to prowess in manly sports. He never missed an opportunity to be present at their school games or other activities, and he enjoyed their confidence in rare degree, as well as that of others boys, because he understood them so well. He was strong and virile and held before his boys high ideals of manhood. His passing will be keenly felt not only by his family but by his community. Besides his wife and sons, Mr. Carver is survived by a brother H.N. Carver of Russell, Minn., and ten sisters--Mrs. Clara Counsell of Osage, Iowa; Mrs. Lola Perry and Miss Beatrice Carver, both of Whittier, Calif., Mrs. Eva Brownell of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Mildred McDonald of Wenatchee, Wash.; Mrs. Daisy Jones and Miss Bernice Carver, both of Eldorado, Ark.; Mrs. Winifred Peters of Mason City, Ia.; Mrs. Susie Green of Mrs. Laura Warburton, both of Spencer. His parents, two brothers and two sisters died before he did. Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. H.N. Carver; Mrs. A.P. Carver, Mrs. Rollin Gee, and Mr. Fred Hahn, all of Russell, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Swann, Mrs. E.A. Counsell and Mrs. J.C. Schultheis, all of Osage, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Rombough and Robert Luce of Libertyville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Peters of Mason City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Carver and two children of Cherokee, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. J.W.
