In 1894 he came to America to his uncle, Jacob Bluml, at Roselle, then he worked for Martes Steffes a year. January 8, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Theresia Schillinger in Roselle by the late Rev. Frey. Settling on a farm about 2 miles southwest of Halbur, later moving onto a Grundmeyer farm, where they remained seven years.... In 1894 he came to America to his uncle, Jacob Bluml, at Roselle, then he worked for Martes Steffes a year. January 8, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Theresia Schillinger in Roselle by the late Rev. Frey. Settling on a farm about 2 miles southwest of Halbur, later moving onto a Grundmeyer farm, where they remained seven years. He purchased 160 acres from Cyer Stavley, the farm they have made their home since. He now owned 280 acres in Washington township and another 160 acres south of Manning, occupied by his son Joseph and family. He is survived by his wife and 12 children, namely, Theresia, Mrs. Frank Meyers at Templeton; Joseph B;, Katie, Mrs. Edward Schlichte, Frank, Bennie, a pair of twins, Anthony and Annie, Mrs. Henry Friedman; Frances, Otellia, Edward, Leo, and Otto and 11 grandchildren. Besides his family he is survived by his aged mother, two brothers, George and Joe; two sisters, Rose and Sister M. Mary in a convent, all in Germany, and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Weber, and Mrs. Katie Danzer of Fort Pierre, S.D.; two uncles, Jacob Bluml of Templeton, and Frank Bluml, and an aunt, Mrs. Margaret Rosebauer of New York state. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock in the St. Augustine church, conducted by Rev. Schilmoeller, and interment was made in the cemetery. The following were pallbearers: William Hinners, William Hooping, Anthony Williams, Bernard Halbur, Frank Fennerding and Joseph Sporrer. The cross-bearer was Edgar Hoesing.
