Smith, Arkansas April 21, 1918. He came with his parents to Kansas November 14, 1878 and lived with them on the farm six miles west of Girard. He is survived by his wife, two children, two brothers and three sisters, Hanford Halley of Monneray, Saskatchewan, Canada; Edward Halley, Okmulgee, Okla.; Mrs. Sarah Dunkle, Girard, Kansas; Mrs. Dora Ward, Pueblo, Colorado; and Miss Eva Halley, Pueblo, Colorado. He was converted in the fall of 1905 and united with the M.E. church and has lived a consistent Christian life ever since. They have moved around and lived in a number of places but of late they have purchased a home in Cherokee. He had been working at the Smelters in Ft. Smith, Ark., when he was caught in the rake and machine kiln and seriously burned him from his waist down. He was conscious til the last. His wife was with him during the last 18 hours of his sickness. He was a very affectionate and loving father and husband and will be greatly missed, not only by his wife and children but by a wide circle of friends and relatives. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon and interment made in the Cherokee cemetery. Contributed by Cheryl White
