Description	:	POLSON F. Gene Hamman, 77, of Polson, passed away on May 5, 1999, at St. Luke Extended Care Facility in Ronan from natural causes. Gene was born in Redstone on Aug. 19, 1921, to Floren and Muriel Hamman. He moved to Savage and later to Circle. He attended schools in Circle and Ekalaka. He moved to Polson in 1935 and graduated from Polson High School. Gene lived the rest of his life in Polson, where he was a justice of the peace and a city judge. Gene Hamman, 77, of Polson, passed away on May 5, 1999, at St. Luke Extended Care Facility in Ronan from natural causes. Gene was born in Redstone on Aug. 19, 1921, to Floren and Muriel Hamman. He moved to Savage and later to Circle. He attended schools in Circle and Ekalaka. He moved to Polson in 1935 and graduated from Polson High School. Gene lived the rest of his life in Polson, where he was a justice of the peace and a city judge. He retired in 1983 from public service. Gene was also an accountant both before and after he served as a judge. He is a past member of the Eagles, Rotary, Jaycees and the Chamber of Commerce. Gene loved fishing and relaxing at his lake cabin. Gene never knew a stranger. He loved dancing, socializing and playing pinochle at the senior center. He married Mary E. Massaro on Feb. 15, 1985, in Missoula. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister. He is survived by his wife Mary of Polson; two sisters, Betty Geer of Moses Lake, Wash., and Bonnie Hintzman of Tucson, Ariz.; three nephews, Scott Hintzman of New York, David Geer of Washington and Jeff Geer of Idaho; and one niece, Linda James of California. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 12 at 1 p.m. at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson with the Rev. Gary Reller officiating. Inurnment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson. Memorials are suggested to the Polson City Library.
