Tesh was the second of six known children of Heinrich (went by Henry) Tesch/Tesh (1794-1846) and Susannah Barbara Rothrock (1803-1855), who married 06 Feb 1827 in North Carolina. Franklin married Winaford Ann Hubbard (1836-1903) on 25 Dec 1856 at Edwards County, Illinois. Franklin and Winaford were the parents of four known children, namely: 1. Franklin Harmon Tesh was born in Salem, North Carolina, March 3, 1830; died of pneumonia fever at 4:15 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 1900; aged 69 years, 10 months and 18 days. At the age of 21 he emigrated to Springfield, Missouri, thence two years later to Illinois. Here he was married to Miss Winaford Hubbard, December 25, 1856. After fifteen years residence in Illinois, he removed with his family to Kansas, stopping a few months in Eureka. In February, 1871, Mr. Tesh settled upon a claim six miles west of Howard. Beginning in a small way, he was able by frugality, energy and good business management to prosper, and became one of Elk county's wealthy men. He was converted in Union Center School house, under the ministry of Rev. Laverty, joining the Methodist Episcopal church. He was a very active and spiritual member until the preaching at Union Center was dropped. He sent for the writer last week and desired to be transferred, with his wife, to the Howard church, renewing his covenant and receiving the vows of the church. He seemed to be fully reconciled to death and passed away in peace and hope. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. J.W. Fanshier, and six grandchildren. Two children are buried at Forest Park cemetery, Oscar, aged 15, and Mary, aged 19. An infant lies in Edwards county, Illinois. One son, Edwin, aged 38, was buried in Grace Lawn cemetery, Howard, Kansas. The funeral services were held Tuesday, January 23, at the home of the deceased by Rev. J.W. Mackenzie, pastor of the Howard Methodist Episcopal church. Interment was made in Forest Park cemetery, Elk county, Kansas.
