Description	:	OBITUARY Franklin Henry Headrick, son of Alex and Sarah Alice Headrick was born on September 26, 1881 at Wick, Iowa and passed away at the family home in McDonald, Kansas, November 12, 1954, at the age of 73 years, one month and seventeen days. In the spring of 1886 he came with his parents to Rawlins County to a homestead about twelve miles northeast of McDonald. Read More	OBITUARY Franklin Henry Headrick, son of Alex and Sarah Alice Headrick was born on September 26, 1881 at Wick, Iowa and passed away at the family home in McDonald, Kansas, November 12, 1954, at the age of 73 years, one month and seventeen days. In the spring of 1886 he came with his parents to Rawlins County to a homestead about twelve miles northeast of McDonald. Trying years of drought were encountered and the Headrick family returned to Iowa for a period of two years. In the spring of 1898, they returned again to their Kansas farm home. Here Frank grew to manhood. His education was secured in the Mayflower school. On December 18, 1904, he was united in marriage with Miss Christine B. Christensen. Their farming adventure began on a little Burtwood farm where they labored cheerfully and digilently to acuire a home. Adverse weather conditions often brought many discouragements but bravely they labored with courage and cheerfulness. Three lovely daughters, Anna May, Frances and Eilene, came to gladden their home and their joy seemed complete. But not many happy years had passed before sorrow came into the home and the devoted wife and mother was taken from them November 12, 1936. In 1938, Frank moved to McDonald, Kansas and has made this his home since that time. On July 20, 1938, he was united in marriage with Miss Dorothy Kramer. Another happy home was established and a new mother with Frank showered their devotion on their three girls. To add greater happiness, four charming daughters came to bless this union. They are: Verda, Vauline, Sharon and Sona. Frank was always much interested in all things which pertained to the betterment of his community. He gave generouly of his time and talent to assist in all worthwhile enterprises. For nearly 20 years, he served as a member of the school board of his district. Frank was a member of the United Brethern Church of the Mayflower community and was one of its faithful workers. For many years he has served as a member of the Church Board. Frank was a trustworthy friend and when adversity or sorrow struck, Frank's counsel and comfort were sought. Patient, kind, thoughtful - those words typlfy Frank's life. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters, Nellie who passed away several years ago, and Anna Reeves, who passed away three weeks ago, and one grandaughter, Donna Faye Nichols who passed away in 1943. Those who are left to cherish his memory are the devoted wife and his seven daughters; the three companions of his three oldest daughters: two grandsons, Wayne and Glen Nichols; five granddaughters, Detta Nichols, Sandra and Beverly Bacon, Neftal Young and Mrs. Alberta King; and one great-grandson, Bradley King; three brothers, Loddie, John and Charles; many other relatives and a large circle of friends. Grace for the trials, Help from above, Unfailing sympathy Undying love---" Funeral services for Frank Headrick, well-known citizen of McDonald and Rawlins County were held at the McDonald Federated Church on Monday afternoon with Rev. G. C. Munyon, of Harlan, Kansas, and Rev. Clarence Swihart of McDonald, officiating. Burial was at the Mayflower cemetery. The singers were Mrs. C. K. Fisher, Mrs. Claude Bell, Mr. Asa David, and Mr. Harold Wright. Mrs. Hertha Benkelman was the pianist. Those serving as pall bearers were Fay Headrick, Keith Headrick, Ray Headrrick, Oral Reeves, Orville Reeves and Steve Danielski. The family has lost a good husband and father, and the community has lost a good citizen.
