Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Gary MacManus of the Grace Lutheran Church and Chaplain Vicki Pedersen of Lutheran Homes will officiate. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. "Joy" Stender, 95, of Muscatine, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Lutheran Homes, surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Gary MacManus of the Grace Lutheran Church and Chaplain Vicki Pedersen of Lutheran Homes will officiate. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Grace Lutheran Church following the committal service. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Judy Pameticky. "Joy" was born on July 7, 1916, in Lime City, the son of Henry and Amanda (Hebbeln) Stender. His first marriage was to Irene L. Ackley on April 22, 1953, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death in 1971. He later married Marylou Ryder and she preceded him in death in 1997. He worked for HJ Heinz Company for 33 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 815, a life time member of the Moose Lodge No. 388, an honorary member of the V.F.W. Post 1565, a member of the American Legion Post 27, an honorary member of the Sons of American Legion, and a member of the Trades and Labor Union. He loved to dance, enjoyed gardening, and was a Cub fan. He had held all of the chairs in the Eagles and Moose Lodges. He also enjoyed bingo and watching Lawrence Welk. Those left to honor his memory include one daughter, Judy Pameticky and husband, Allen, of Muscatine; two granddaughters, Cassandra Joy Pameticky and fiancé, Michael Budden, of Muscatine, and Vernalee Irene Pameticky of Muscatine; two step-sons, Wayne Ryder of Muscatine, and William 'Bill' Ryder and wife, Candi, of Whittier, California; one step-daughter, Nancy Mills and husband, Mike, of Lone Tree; and several step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; three sisters; five brothers; and one step-son, James 'Porky' Ryder.
