Description	:	Frank Rich was the second son of two born to Sarah Jane (Severance) and Albert Rich. Albert Americus "A A" 1845 ~ 1919 Franklin Willson Rich 1847 - 1929 His Mom died when he was young and his dad married Matilda R Willson 1823 ~ 1897 They had one child; Charles Willson Rich 1854 ~ 1936 Frank's early years were spent in New York living part of that time with his Aunts. "Big" Uncle Charlie ( Charles V Rich 1832 ~ 1896 ) became his guardian and in 1866 brought a group of young men including Frank and his cousins to the gold fields of Montana Territory. Frank worked for Uncle Charlie as a teamster hauling freight with 16 mule team jerk lines from Corine, Utah (the end of the Southern Pacific Line) to Bozeman, Montana. Three trips were made per season, hauling all supplies including food, and mining equipment. He eventually bought the business from Uncle Charlie and ran it until 1978 when he started freighting in state. He was also breaking stage coach teams. His teams were easily recognized by their matched size and color and his Studebaker wagons. Through his freighting he met Lizzie Kate Longstreet Hunter, daughter of Susan (Murray) and Dr Andrew J Hunter. They ran a hotel at Hunters Hot Springs. On Dec 31 1979, he and Lizzie married at Hunters. They headed back to Butte, where Frank had his freighting business. Frank sold the business and with that money and an investment from Uncle Charlie and his cousin, Lester Willson 1839 ~ 1919, he and Lizzie built and operated the Rich Hotel at Hunters Hot Springs. They had children; Olive Jean 1881 Clarence Gallatin 1884 - 1969 Ernest Hunter 1886 Lee Doane 1889 - 1890 Helen Marie 1891 The family lived At Hunter Hot Springs until Dr Hunter sold in 1886. Frank and Lizzie stayed for a shot time after and then moved to Bozeman, too. Frank took a job in the agriculture part of what is now Montana State University. He started freighting again and the family lived in Townsend and at Mission Creek on the Yellowstone. In 1898, the family moved to Spokane by covered wagon when Frank took a job hauling the cornerstones for Gonzaga University. The family lived in Spokane and Frank worked for the rail road building cars. Clarence worked as a machinest and Ernest worked in a cookie/cracker factory. The workers struck the Northern Pacific RR in Spokane in 1914 and Frank and Clarence lost their jobs. The family bought a place at Dean, MT and added homesteading acreage to their Ranch. *********************
