Franklin ran the Worcester Bros. lumbering business. He served in the General Court of New Hampshire and was a State Senator in 1887-1888. He ran for Governor of the State of New Hampshire in 1989 and 1912. He never married and lived usually at 83 Worcester Road on the farm of his brother Samuel A Worcester. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1870 and read law at Cambridge Massachusetts and afterwards worked with the Worcester Bros. business in that city.
