Frank Zemanek Sr. Frank Zemanek Sr. was born at Meximoste, Bohemia, July 22, 1849, and died at his home in Dundee, Iowa January 4, 1913, at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 13 days. He came to America with his parents when but eleven years of age and they settled in Delaware county, Iowa and he resided in that vicinity the remainder of his life. In 1871 he was married to Maria Kostecks and to them were born seven children. Mrs. Zemanek died on May 8, 1907. The following year Mr. Zemanek was married to Anna Janak, but their married life was of short duration, for she passed away on September 30, 1910. He was again united in marriage on August 19, 1911, to Mrs. Maria Mikolash, who survives him. Three of his children preceded him in death; a daughter, who died in infancy; and two sons--John, on November 27, 1900, at the age of 26 years, and Frederick, on December 2, 1910, aged nearly 28. There remain to mourn his departure besides his wife, four children-- Frank, Joseph and Charles of Dundee, Iowa, and Mrs. William Lingard of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and the grandchildren. Of his father's family there is but one sister remain, Mrs. Augusts Klonus of Manchester, Iowa. The funeral services were held in the Wesleyan Methodist church at Dundee on Monday afternoon, January 8th, conducted by the Rev. S. C. Bretnall, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Lamont, and the singing was by the choir of the Lutheran church. The body was laid away in the family lot in the Dundee cemetery. Mr. Zemanek, as a boy and man, had lived in the community for over fifty years. By industry and frugality he had acquired some property, making him respected as a business man. In a social way he had a large circle of friends, who feel their loss but the family has lost a husband and father and the sympathy of the whole community is extended to them in their grief.
