Description	:	Born in the village of Borovo, town of Policka, county of Chrudim, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). Married (1) Agnes/Aneska Swaden/Shoandra. Emigrated to the United States with his first wife and children in 1867. The passenger list for the ship Olbers, which arrived in New York City from Bremen, Germany on July 30, 1867 includes the following family (origin Bohemia, destination Iowa): Franz Lapaner, age 33 years and 2 months, occupation miller; Agnes, 29 years; Anne, 8 years; and Emilie, 11 months. According to the census (which mistakenly spells his last name Cropef) he was a laborer, 36 years old, born Bohemia; his wife Agnes was 32 years old, born Bohemia; their older daughter Emma was 4 years old, born Bohemia; and their younger daughter Anna was 6 months old, born Iowa. Married (2) Katherine Cada on October 27, 1872 in Cook County, Ill. Eventually settled in Linwood township, Butler County, Nebr. where he is listed on the 1880 and 1900 census records. According to the 1880 census he was a farmer, 46 years old, born Bohemia. The 1900 census states he was a farmer, born May 1834 in Bohemia, emigrated to the United States in 1867, and had been married for 27 years. By 1910 he and his wife moved into the village of Abie. According to the census taken that year he was 76 years old, born Aust-Bohemia, emigrated to the United States in 1867, had been married 39 years, and he and his wife shared their home with two schoolteachers. According to his probate file he died at Abie on June 23, 1917 and was survived by his widow Katerina and daughters Emma Lyons of Omaha, Nebr. and Anna Barta of Central City, Nebr. The file also mentions his grandchildren Mary, Anna, Sophie, Rosy, Joseph, and Edward Barta and his brother-in-law Joseph Cada, of 1423 South 41 street, Chicago, Ill. `````````````` Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), June 28, 1917, p. 8, col. 2 Abie Mr. Lapaur died at his home in Abie on Saturday, June 23. He had been in poor health for several months. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Abie on Monday, June 25. Mr. Lapaur's daughter, Mrs. Barta, and children from Central City, came to attend the funeral.
